The Agony of Defeat

world-map-feet

Look at your feet.
Feel the rifts callouses have dug.
Dirt engrained. Scars engraved.
You earned all of them.

Walk those paths.
Feel the piercing stones
stamping your feet.
Sand weathered. Sun withered.
You preserve the burns well.

Peel away the skin.
Back to when cold puddles jumped under your feet and burning asphalt branded you. When tiny stubs clung climbing train tracked trees
and squishy mud kidnapped your steps.
Sink into the green and feel the soft grass silk between your toes.
Tenderly touch the fragile flowers
and accept the thorns strengthening stab.

Look at your feet.
Feel the craters of memories rebirthing.
Sad steps. Precious prints.
Feet worn to the fullest
